The gait study or tread study consists of the analysis of the foot in statics and dynamics as well as its relationship with other structures such as the knee, hip and spine. In this way we can prevent the appearance of muscle and osteoarticular injuries such as plantar fasciitis tendinitis repeat sprains muscle overload < / b>, asymmetries , metatarsalgias , etc.

It is made up of different phases, the first is the anamnesis , where the patient’s data is collected and ask about his medical history. The most important thing about this first consultation is to find out whether or not you practice sports and what it is, the type of footwear you usually wear, your history of injuries and / or illnesses … etc. The second part is the examination of the patient on the stretcher , which is carried out in two parts, the first lying down and the second standing, here the presence of a possible asymmetry is assessed (difference in length between one leg and another), the muscular and articular function and also different tests are performed to check the alignment of the legs and feet. The third part consists of the study of plantar pressures through a platform containing sensors. In this way we obtain the maximum support points and see if there is any deviation from the normality of the progression of the tread. Then a gait analysis is performed, paying attention at each stage to detect any alteration. And finally, the podiatrist will make the diagnosis with the results obtained.
